Brief:
In 2015 the RNLI faced it's highest UK drownings on record. The task was to create a new medium and method to help reduce drowning around the UK coastline.
Solution:
Aimed at runners and walkers around the coast, Coastal Club is a mobile app designed to warn people of unknown dangers. Using GPS the app tracks your run, providing live alerts and detail of a near by danger. The app is community lead, allowing the user to report their own dangers and warn other users.
Coastal Club is designed to work with wearable sports tech capable of detecting sea water. If a person falls in the sea, the app is able to send out an emergency message containing your name, location and contact details to the coast guard through it's Beacon system.
